Studying alongside work and distance learning

In addition to attending university on a full-time basis, you can also obtain a qualification through a part-time course of study, studying alongside work, as well as through distance learning.

Part-time courses offer organisational benefits by taking into particular consideration the personal circumstances of people studying alongside work, and students with children and relatives in need of care. In addition, universities should also organise other courses so that studying can be done on a part-time basis (individual part-time).

Continuing education programmes (Bachelor's and Master's courses) as well as contact/modular study programmes allow lifelong learning at Baden-Württemberg universities that have a scientific bias. Flexible time management, special teaching concepts and blended learning formats are important in scientific further education.

Distance learning is a form of studies where teachers and students are mainly at different locations and learning success is monitored.

A large proportion of study is done away from the campus in the case of distance learning, in contrast to on-campus study programmes. Students acquire their knowledge through specially prepared scripts, on-campus seminars, multimedia teaching materials and through performance monitoring with the correction of homework assignments and examinations.
